The Brief

El Tablazo, a Colombian restaurant in Miami Beach, was seeking to update it's brand identity for use in a new website, menu design and restaurant supplies. The client wanted something hand-made with personality and character, inspired by Colombian culture, and well suited for use in typical restaurant applications.

The Solution

Vintage-style hand lettering sets the tone in two logo concepts, communicating El Tablazo's long history and the cultural experience offered by the restaurant. The names are surrounded by either flourishes or a set of supporting elements. A ribbon in motion provides the base for one concept, providing an air of festivity and inspired by the flowing dresses worn in traditional Colombian dances. La Flor de Mayo, Colombia’s national flower, adds a touch of nature’s beauty and draws the eyes to the bottom of one of the logos, where viewers are greeted by a declaration of trust and quality with the establishment year. All this is contained within an aged, wooden table-top background, alluding to the meaning of the restaurant’s name and giving customers a visual association for brand recognition.
